The Greek Orthodox church of Beit Sahour celebrated today (Sunday 30/12/2007) its church day. On this occasion a special Sunday mass was held in the church. After the mass several scouts groups marched in street in front of the church and played Christmas carols. The mass and the celebrations were attended by many people.

Beit Sahour (Arabic: بيت ساحور pronounced Bayt Saahoor is a Palestinian town administered by the Palestinian Authority, situated to the east of Bethlehem. The population of 15,400 is largely Christian.

BETHLEHEM, (MENASSAT.COM) – Of all the cities in Palestine, Bethlehem is by far the most beautiful. Especially at this time of year, when dozens of laborers are decorating the streets in preparation for Christmas. At night, when all the lights come on, it looks even more fabulous.
And yet, the city that beats with life during this time of the year is in reality a dead city.

رئيس البلدية يعاهد المواطنين بمزيد من العمل والبناء في مدينة الرعاة..  شجرة الميلاد في بيت ساحور بيت ساحور - نظم المركز الفلسطيني للتقارب بين الشعوب ومقره مدينة بيت ساحور وبالتعاون مع البلدية مسيرة الشموع التقليدية التي تقام بمناسبة عيد الميلاد المجيد ورأس السنة الجديدة وذلك بمشاركة نحو ثلاثة آلاف مواطن من بينهم متطوعين وزائرين أجانب. وتقدمت المسيرة وزيرة السياحة والآثار والمرأة الدكتورة خلود دعيبس ومحافظ بيت لحم اللواء صلاح التعمري ورئيس بلدية بيت ساحور هاني الحايك والارشمندريت أغناطيوس ممثلا عن بطريرك الروم الأرثوذكس والآب عيسى مصلح الناطق الرسمي باسم الكنيسة الأرثوذكسية ورجال دين من مختلف الكنائس في المدينة وحشد كبير من ممثلي القوى والمؤسسات والفعاليات ورجال الدين.

(MENASSAT.COM) – صحيح بأن المتعارف عليه دينياً وتاريخيا هو قدسيّة "بيت لحم" او ما تحمله من رموز للمسيحيين حول العالم. ولكن ما يظهره الاعلام عن الاحتفالات بعيد مولد المسيح وعن تلك المدينة تحديداً يبقى بعيداً كل البعد عن الماسأة الحقيقية التي يعيشها سكانها، رغم الأنوار والزينة والزيارات "الرسمية" ذات الطابع السياسي الصرف توصف بالمدينة الميتة تلك التي تدب الحياة فيها في مثل هذه الفترة من السنة.
